High protein foods are not recommended for most African Cichlids as they struggle to break them down due largely to the long intestines the fish have. African Cichlids are mainly vegetarian so we recommend spirulina based foods which they can easily digest. One of the foods we stock specifically for African Cichlids are the Vitalis Rift Lake Green Cichlid Pellets and the Vitalis Rift Lake Red Cichlid Pellets which have led to a great deal of colour improvement in our own fish.
