The Double Saddle Butterflyfish is an attractive,  moderately peaceful fish suitable for fish only aquariums. Like all butterflies, it requires pristine water conditions and plenty of live rock to browse for filamentous algae and other sources of food, so a mature system would be advised. They are one of the few butterflies that can be kept singularly or as a group. However, the aquarium needs to be large for a group and all of the butterflies need to be introduced at the same time.

This fish can be quite shy when first introduced into the aquarium, but once settled it will be an assertive feeder and able to hold its own. Plenty of rock work and cover will help encourage the fish to settle down and feel confident.

These fish are not considered reef safe as they will pick at most kinds of corals, anemones, tube worms and other small invertebrates.
