Frozen Krill Superba 1kg is a substantial natural food particularly well suited to larger tropical and marine fish, predatory species and aquatic turtles. BCUK supplies the krill in a large frozen plate, making it a practical option for fishkeepers who regularly feed bigger specimens or maintain several aquariums.

Krill Superba (Euphausia superba) are considerably larger and meatier than many of the small frozen foods commonly used for community fish. Individual krill are approximately 3–4cm long, providing larger fish with a satisfying whole-food item that encourages natural feeding behaviour.

The generous 1kg plate is ideal where smaller blister packs simply disappear too quickly. Portions can be broken from the frozen slab as required, allowing you to feed an appropriate amount while keeping the remainder frozen.

Ideal for Larger Fish

The relatively large size of Krill Superba makes this food particularly useful for predatory and larger omnivorous species. It can be offered to larger cichlids, predatory tropical fish and many medium to large marine fish, as well as aquatic turtles. BCUK specifically recommends its Krill Superba for large predatory tropical and marine fish.

For smaller fish, a finer food such as mysis, brine shrimp or Krill Pacifica will generally be easier to consume.

Natural Dietary Variety

Frozen krill provides an excellent way to introduce natural crustacean material into the diet. Its texture, shape and strong feeding response can provide useful variety alongside quality pellets, flakes and other appropriate frozen foods.

It is particularly useful for fish that naturally consume crustaceans and other relatively large invertebrate prey.

Gamma Irradiated

BCUK’s Krill Superba is gamma irradiated as part of the production process. BCUK states that this is used to ensure the frozen food is pathogen free.

Feeding

Break off the required amount and allow it to thaw before feeding. Larger krill can be offered whole to suitably sized fish or chopped into smaller pieces where required.

Feed only as much as your fish will consume and remove significant uneaten food. For most aquarium fish, frozen krill is best used as part of a varied diet rather than as the sole food.
