Ammonia is produced by everything in your aquarium. Food, detritus and even the gills of your fish will produce ammonia. It is one of the biggest threats to the welfare of your livestock as it is highly toxic and will kill your fish very quickly if not rectified. Having an established cycle in your aquarium will prevent this from happening, but things can go wrong from time to time and being able to test for ammonia is the first line of defense. Use these strips as part of your weekly maintenance routine or when there appears to be an issue in the aquarium.

Use the API® AMMONIA TEST STRIPS as the quick and accurate way to test for the presence of ammonia. Kit reads 0 to 6 ppm of ammonia, and alerts you to unsafe ammonia levels before they can harm fish or result in fish loss. For a more professional approach, use API liquid ammonia tests instead.
