Fluval Flex Aquarium Kit

The Fluval Flex Aquarium Kit combines distinctive curved-front styling with concealed multi-stage filtration and powerful LED lighting in a compact, contemporary aquarium.

Available in 34, 57 and 123 litre sizes, the Flex is designed to keep as much equipment as possible out of sight. The filtration system is hidden behind the rear panel, while Fluval’s honeycomb print disguises the waterline and filtration compartments from the front.

Choose from Black or White to create a smart freshwater aquarium that’s particularly well suited to tropical communities and planted displays.

Fluval Flex Aquarium with Curved Front Glass

The most recognisable feature of the Fluval Flex Aquarium is its gently curved front panel.

Rather than the conventional flat-fronted box shape, the bowed glass gives the aquarium a softer, more contemporary appearance and provides an attractive panoramic view of the display.

The clean exterior is helped by the filtration system being completely concealed at the rear, meaning there’s no bulky internal filter taking up valuable space within the main aquarium.

Fluval Flex Aquarium with Hidden Filtration

All three Flex models feature integrated multi-stage rear filtration.

Water passes through mechanical, chemical and biological filter media, helping remove suspended debris and dissolved contaminants while providing a large surface area for beneficial bacteria.

Fluval supplies the filter media required to get started, including:

• Foam filter block
• Activated carbon
• BIOMAX biological media

The rear compartment also provides space to conceal a compatible heater, helping keep even more equipment out of the main display.

A heater is sold separately and will be required if you’re setting the aquarium up for tropical fish.

Fluval Flex Aquarium LED Lighting

Powerful LED lighting is integrated neatly into the aquarium cover.

The 34L and 57L Flex models use remote-controlled LED lighting, allowing you to choose different colours and lighting effects.

The larger 123L Flex uses Fluval Aquasky technology with Bluetooth app control, providing considerably greater control over colour, intensity and lighting schedules.

Its programmable 24-hour cycle can simulate gradual changes in daylight rather than simply switching abruptly between light and darkness.

The LEDs also provide useful illumination for growing a range of straightforward aquarium plants.

Adjustable Water Circulation

The Fluval Flex Aquarium Kit uses adjustable output nozzles, allowing the direction of the returning water to be changed according to the layout of your aquarium.

This is particularly useful in a planted display, where good circulation helps move nutrients around the aquarium and prevents areas of stagnant water developing behind wood, rocks and other decoration.

The 123L Flex has two independent rear filtration chambers, providing increased filtration capacity to match its larger water volume.

Easy Access for Feeding and Maintenance

The aquarium cover helps reduce evaporation and provides extra security for fish that may otherwise jump from an open aquarium.

A convenient feeding opening allows everyday feeding without removing the complete cover.

For larger maintenance jobs, the cover can be removed to provide much better access to both the aquarium and the concealed rear filtration compartments.

Which Fluval Flex Aquarium Should I Choose?

The 34 litre Flex is the most compact model at approximately 35 × 33 × 33cm. It’s best suited to carefully selected small livestock where space is limited.

The 57 litre Flex measures approximately 41 × 39 × 39cm and provides noticeably more swimming and aquascaping room while retaining the compact cube-like proportions of the smaller model.

For a larger display, the 123 litre Flex measures approximately 82 × 39 × 40cm. Its additional swimming length makes it much more versatile for a tropical community and provides plenty of room for a substantial planted aquascape.

Dedicated matching Flex stands are also available separately for selected models.

Fluval Flex Aquarium for Tropical Fish

Add a suitable heater and the Fluval Flex Aquarium makes an attractive tropical freshwater setup.

The concealed filtration is particularly useful because it leaves the main aquarium relatively free from equipment. Plants, wood and rockwork can be used to create a natural display without having to disguise a large internal filter.

Always choose livestock according to the particular Flex size you’re buying. The 34L model has very different stocking possibilities from the much larger 123L aquarium.

For tropical setups, remember that a suitable aquarium heater must be purchased separately.

Why We Like the Fluval Flex Aquarium

The Fluval Flex Aquarium Kit has managed to remain popular because it doesn’t look like a conventional aquarium kit.
