Oase ProfiClear Premium DF-L Pump Fed Pond Filter

The Oase ProfiClear Premium DF-L Pump Fed is a professional self-cleaning pond drum filter designed for large ponds and heavily stocked koi ponds. With a maximum flow rate of 25,000 litres per hour, it provides high-capacity mechanical filtration as part of the modular Oase ProfiClear Premium filtration system.

Unlike the Compact-L, this DF-L is primarily the mechanical drum filtration stage. This allows it to be combined with separate ProfiClear biological and discharge modules to build a filtration system around the requirements of the pond. Oase lists compatible Moving Bed, Standing Bed, Individual and Discharge modules within the ProfiClear Premium range.

Pump Fed Pond Drum Filter for Koi Ponds

The Pump Fed Pond Drum Filter separates suspended solid waste from the pond water before it reaches the biological filtration stages.

Water is pumped into the DF-L and passes through fine 60-micron screens. Solid debris remains on the inside of the drum while filtered water passes through, helping prevent waste from accumulating within the biological filter.

This makes the ProfiClear Premium DF-L particularly useful for koi ponds, heavily stocked fish ponds and larger ornamental ponds where substantial quantities of solid waste can be produced.

Automatic Self-Cleaning Drum Filter

As debris collects on the drum screens, the ProfiClear automatically initiates a cleaning cycle.

The drum rotates while a high-pressure rinse system cleans the sieve elements, allowing collected debris to be discharged from the filter rather than remaining within the pond system.

The DF-L uses eight sieve elements providing a total filter intake surface of 3,454cm², with four cleaning nozzles supplied by a 6-bar rinse pump. Cleaning can be activated automatically by the sensor, at timed intervals or manually.

For a large koi pond, that automation is a considerable advantage over conventional mechanical filtration that relies on regularly washing foams or other media by hand.

Pump Fed Filtration for Existing Ponds

Because this version is pump fed, water is delivered from the pond to the drum by a suitable pond pump.

That can make it particularly useful when upgrading an existing pond where installing bottom drains and converting the entire system to gravity-fed filtration isn’t practical.

The DF-L Pump Fed has two 50mm inlets and supports a maximum water flow of 25,000 LPH, with Oase specifying a minimum flow of 10,000 LPH.

Modular Koi Pond Filtration

One of the main advantages of the ProfiClear Premium system is its modular design.

Rather than combining every filtration process within one box, the DF-L can provide the mechanical pre-filtration stage, with compatible ProfiClear modules used to provide biological filtration and complete the system.

This allows a large koi pond filtration system to be configured according to fish stock, feeding levels and required biological capacity, while also providing scope for the filtration system to develop alongside the pond.

Fine 60-Micron Mechanical Filtration

Removing solid waste efficiently is particularly important in koi ponds because uneaten food, faeces and other organic debris can otherwise collect within biological filtration chambers or settle elsewhere in the system.

The 60-micron drum screens provide fine mechanical separation before this material reaches subsequent filtration stages.

The result is cleaner water entering the biological filter and considerably less accumulated solid waste requiring manual removal.

Compatible with Oase Bitron UVCs

The ProfiClear Premium DF-L Pump Fed can be connected with compatible Oase UVC equipment.

Oase specifically lists compatibility with Bitron C 72–110W and Bitron Eco 120–240W models.

This allows mechanical filtration, biological filtration and UVC clarification to be incorporated into a larger integrated pond filtration system.

Oase Control Compatible

The current ProfiClear Premium DF-L is part of Oase’s connected filtration range and can be incorporated into the Oase Control system. Existing systems can also be upgraded using the appropriate separately available controller.
