STENDKER fish can live up to 15 years, reach a size of up to 21 centimeters and are considered fully grown at the age of 2-2 ½ years. The discus fish loves the sociability of its conspecifics (cichlid behavior) and should therefore be kept either in pairs (however, the pair should already be at least 14 centimeters in size) or in a group of at least ten animals.
Its natural habitat consists of sandy soil and roots, under which it likes to hide in a group. The discus fish also feels very comfortable in a planted aquarium (it often has a nicer habitat there than in the wild).
Our STENDKER discus fish are used to German tap water, are easy to keep and can therefore no longer be compared with the wild-caught fish. With our STENDKER discus fish, it is also possible for aquarium beginners to keep discus fish successfully!
Ideal tank mates include Cardinal Tetra, Rummy Nose Tetra, various Corydoras. Apistogrammas, Rams and Hatchetfish. Avoid large, boisterous fish as they're likely to spook the Discus and put them off their food during feeding time as well as stress them out, which in turn can lead to sick fish.
They are best fed on Stendker's own discus foods, particularly beef heart.
Stendkerhave been breeding their popular discus fish for over 55 years in the 3rd generation in Germany and have accustomed the offspring to German tap water values. The Fish are therefore brilliant in colour, very robust, not easily frightened and used to people. STENDKER discus fish are DIFFERENT and cannot be compared with the wild caught discus fish from the Amazon.
Do not mix Stendker Discus with any other type of Discus.
