Reefscape Maxi 640 Rimless Aquarium with Sump

The Reefscape Maxi 640 is a large 180cm rimless glass aquarium with sump, designed for impressive marine, reef and freshwater displays. With a 520 litre display aquarium and 120 litre sump, the complete system provides approximately 640 litres of water volume.

Measuring 180cm long × 60cm deep × 60cm high, the Maxi 640 provides the classic 6ft aquarium footprint with plenty of front-to-back space for reef structures, planted layouts and substantial aquascapes.

Built using low-iron glass and supplied with its cabinet, sump, pipework, freshwater reservoir and auto top-up valve, this is a complete large aquarium system rather than simply a glass tank.

Reefscape Maxi 640 Rimless Aquarium

The Reefscape Maxi 640 Rimless Aquarium uses low-iron glass for excellent clarity and colour rendition, with machine-finished, bevelled panels and clear silicone maintaining the clean appearance of the rimless design.

With no conventional hood or upper bracing dominating the aquarium, the result is an open, contemporary display particularly suited to reef aquariums, marine fish systems and large freshwater aquascapes.

Cover plates are also supplied, giving you the appearance of a rimless aquarium while still providing the option to reduce evaporation and help prevent fish from jumping.

Large 6ft Aquarium with Sump

At 180cm long, the Maxi 640 is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a large 6ft aquarium with sump filtration.

The multi-chamber sump provides space for filtration media and additional aquarium equipment while keeping much of the hardware away from the main display.

It includes removable cover plates to help reduce evaporation, while the generous cabinet height provides working room for equipment such as protein skimmers, reactors and other filtration equipment.

Designed for Marine and Reef Aquariums

The combination of a large display, sump filtration and 60cm front-to-back depth makes the Reefscape Maxi 640 particularly well suited to a large marine or reef aquarium.

The 60cm depth provides considerably more scope for rockwork than a narrow traditional 6ft aquarium, allowing structures to be positioned away from the glass with room for water movement around them.

The corner weir also leaves the central rear section of the aquarium unobstructed, providing greater freedom when creating a reef or freshwater aquascape.

Corner Weir and Sump Filtration

Drain and return pipework is housed within a colour-matched corner weir.

Positioning the weir in the corner rather than centrally leaves more usable space within the aquarium and makes it easier to create a natural-looking aquascape without having to build around a large central overflow.

Water drains from the display aquarium into the 120 litre multi-chamber sump, where mechanical, biological and specialist filtration equipment can be installed before the water is returned to the aquarium.

Strong, Ready-Assembled Cabinet

The Reefscape cabinet isn’t supplied as a conventional MDF flat-pack unit.

Its construction incorporates solid wood, metal and treated laminated wood, with acrylic exterior panels and glass-covered doors. Soft-close hinges and push catches maintain the clean, handle-free appearance of the cabinet.

At approximately 83cm high, the cabinet also provides useful working space beneath the aquarium for sump maintenance and additional equipment.

Although the Reefscape Maxi 640 is an obvious choice for a large reef aquarium, the dimensions and sump system make it equally useful for other ambitious setups.

It can be configured for:
