Frozen Guinea Pig – Reptile Food

Frozen Guinea Pigs provide a substantial whole-prey food for large snakes and other suitable carnivorous reptiles.

They can be particularly useful for larger snakes that require a more substantial prey item than conventional feeder rats. As a whole-prey food, guinea pigs provide muscle, bone, organs and other tissues within a single food item.

Always choose prey appropriate to the species, size and feeding requirements of the individual animal.

Suitable for Larger Snakes

Frozen guinea pigs are primarily intended for larger snakes capable of safely consuming substantial whole prey, including appropriately sized pythons and boas.

They can provide an alternative prey type for animals normally fed large rats or rabbits, helping to introduce variety where this is appropriate for the species.

Feeding Frozen Guinea Pigs

Always defrost thoroughly before feeding. Larger frozen prey can take considerable time to thaw completely, so make sure the centre of the animal is fully defrosted before it is offered.

Follow good hygiene practices when handling raw frozen prey. Wash your hands and any surfaces or equipment that come into contact with it, and remove uneaten prey promptly.

Do not refreeze once fully defrosted.
