Description

Frozen Rabbits – Reptile Food – Small to Jumbo

Frozen Rabbits provide a substantial whole-prey food for large snakes, reptiles and other suitable exotic animals capable of taking larger prey.

Available in a range of sizes from Small to Jumbo, rabbits are particularly useful for larger snakes that require a considerably bigger prey item than conventional feeder mice or rats.

As a whole-prey food, rabbits provide muscle, bone, organs and other tissues in a single prey item. Always select a rabbit appropriate to the species and size of the animal being fed.

Suitable for Larger Snakes

Frozen rabbits are most commonly used for large pythons, boas and other appropriately sized snakes with feeding requirements that make smaller rodents impractical.

Prey size should always be selected according to the individual animal rather than simply offering the largest meal it is capable of swallowing.

If you’re unsure whether rabbits are suitable for your reptile or which size you require, please contact our reptile team for advice.

Feeding Frozen Rabbits Reptile Food

Frozen rabbits must be fully defrosted before feeding. Larger prey items can take considerably longer to thaw completely than mice or rats, so it is particularly important to ensure the centre of the rabbit is thoroughly defrosted before it is offered.

Follow good hygiene practices when handling raw frozen prey, wash your hands and any surfaces or equipment that come into contact with it, and remove uneaten prey promptly.

Do not refreeze once fully defrosted.

Special Order

Frozen Rabbits are a special-order item.

Frozen reptile food is generally available for collection only. Local delivery may sometimes be possible for an additional charge; please contact us to check availability.

Frozen Rabbits Reptile Food Frequently Asked Questions

What reptiles can eat frozen rabbits?
Frozen rabbits are primarily intended for large carnivorous reptiles capable of safely consuming substantial whole prey, including appropriately sized pythons and boas.

When should I move from rats to rabbits?
There isn’t a particular age at which a snake needs to move onto rabbits. They become a useful prey option where the animal’s size and nutritional requirements mean appropriately sized rabbits are more practical than smaller rodents.

Do frozen rabbits need to be defrosted before feeding?
Yes. They must be completely defrosted before feeding. Because rabbits are considerably larger than many other frozen feeder animals, allow sufficient time for the centre of the prey to thaw fully.

Are frozen rabbits kept in stock?
Our frozen rabbits are currently a special-order product, so please contact us before travelling specifically to collect them.

Can frozen rabbits be delivered?
Our frozen reptile food is generally collection only, although local delivery may sometimes be available for an additional charge. Please contact us to see whether delivery is possible to your area.
