Oase ProfiClear Premium DF-L Gravity Fed Pond Filter

The Oase ProfiClear Premium DF-L Gravity Fed is a professional self-cleaning pond drum filter designed for large ponds, koi ponds and high-performance gravity-fed filtration systems.

Installed at pond water level and supplied through bottom drains and/or skimmers, the DF-L provides the mechanical filtration stage of a modular koi pond filtration system, automatically removing suspended solid waste before the water passes to biological filtration.

Unlike the ProfiClear Compact models, the DF-L is designed as a dedicated mechanical drum filter module, allowing separate ProfiClear biological and discharge modules to be selected according to the requirements of the pond. Oase describes the ProfiClear Premium range as a professional modular filtration system designed to achieve high water quality while keeping installation space relatively compact.

Gravity Fed Drum Filter for Koi Ponds

The Gravity Fed Drum Filter is particularly well suited to purpose-built koi ponds where bottom drains and skimmers can feed water directly into the filtration system.

Solid waste is removed mechanically before reaching subsequent biological filtration stages, helping prevent fish waste, uneaten food and other debris from accumulating elsewhere within the system.

Automatic Self-Cleaning Pond Filter

Fine drum screens separate suspended debris from the incoming pond water. As the screens become loaded with waste, the control system automatically initiates a cleaning cycle.

The drum rotates while its high-pressure rinse system washes accumulated debris into the waste channel for discharge.

Cleaning can be triggered automatically by the sensor, at timed intervals or manually, greatly reducing the routine maintenance associated with conventional mechanical pond filters.

Gravity Fed Pond Filtration

A gravity-fed pond filter works differently from a pump-fed system.

The drum filter is installed with its operating water level matched to the pond. Water then travels naturally from bottom drains and skimmers into the filter before a pond pump returns the cleaned water to the pond.

For new koi pond installations, this arrangement can provide excellent circulation while allowing solid waste to reach the mechanical filter before being broken up by a pump.

It also allows multiple pond feeds to form part of a properly designed bottom-drain koi pond filtration system.

The DF-L provides the mechanical stage rather than trying to fit every filtration process into a single unit.

It can be combined with compatible ProfiClear Premium Moving Bed, Standing Bed, Individual and Discharge modules, allowing biological filtration and system layout to be configured around the pond. Oase lists these modules as part of the same ProfiClear Premium family.
