Oase ProfiClear Premium Compact-L Drum Pond Filter

The Oase ProfiClear Premium Compact-L is a professional self-cleaning drum filter and biological pond filter designed for koi ponds and other heavily stocked fish ponds where excellent filtration is required without installing a large multi-module system.

Combining 60-micron mechanical drum filtration with a built-in Moving Bed biological filter, the Compact-L removes solid waste from the water before biological filtration processes dissolved fish waste.

Available in Gravity Fed and Pump Fed versions, it provides a compact alternative to larger modular drum filter systems while retaining automatic cleaning and high flow rates.

Koi Drum Filter with Built-In Biological Filtration

The koi drum filter section automatically removes suspended debris down to approximately 60 microns.

As waste builds up on the screens, an automatic cleaning cycle rotates and rinses the drum, carrying the collected debris away through the waste outlet. Importantly, the screens are cleaned using filtered pond water, so the normal cleaning process doesn’t require a permanent fresh-water supply.

Behind the drum is an integrated Moving Bed biological filtration chamber, supplied with 60 litres of Hel-X 13 biomedia. This gives the ProfiClear Compact-L both mechanical and biological filtration within a single unit.

That makes it particularly attractive for koi ponds where space for separate drum and biological filter chambers is limited.

Self-Cleaning Pond Filter

Traditional pond filters require accumulated debris to be manually removed from foams or other mechanical media.

The ProfiClear Compact-L instead uses automatic drum filter technology to separate and discharge solid waste before it can accumulate within the biological filter.

Its screens also incorporate pollutant rakes to help remove string algae and larger debris, while individual sieve elements can be removed without tools when maintenance is required.

Gravity Fed Koi Pond Filter

The Gravity Fed Compact-L is designed for installations where pond water travels into the filter by gravity, typically through bottom drains and skimmers.

It provides a maximum flow rate of 25,000 litres per hour and Oase recommends the Compact-L Gravity system for koi ponds up to approximately 35,000 litres, subject to stocking and feeding levels.

Its relatively low installation height also makes the Compact-L particularly useful where space around a gravity-fed koi pond is restricted.

Pump Fed Pond Filter

The Pump Fed Compact-L is designed for ponds where water is pumped directly from the pond into the filter.

With a maximum flow of 20,000 litres per hour, it provides an alternative for existing ponds where installing bottom drains or converting to a full gravity-fed filtration system isn’t practical.

Oase recommends this version for koi ponds up to approximately 30,000 litres, depending on stocking and feeding levels.

Compact Filter for Koi and Fish Ponds

Despite its relatively compact footprint, the ProfiClear Compact-L combines several stages normally associated with much larger pond filtration systems:

Oase rates the complete Gravity Fed unit for ponds up to 140,000 litres, reducing this to 35,000 litres for koi ponds. The Pump Fed version is rated up to 120,000 litres, or 30,000 litres with koi.

As always with koi filtration, we’d recommend choosing a filter according to fish stock, adult fish size, feeding rate and required turnover, rather than simply working from the maximum quoted pond volume.

Oase Control Compatible

The ProfiClear Premium Compact-L can be connected to the Oase Control system, allowing compatible installations to be monitored and controlled through the Oase app.

Existing systems can also be upgraded for Oase Control connectivity using the appropriate separately available upgrade equipment.
