Live Mealworms Reptile Food
Mealworms are a great treat for your exotic pet, as they are high in protein and fat they make quite a hearty meal so we would only recommend adding mealworms once or twice a week to enrich your reptile’s main diet. They are easy to keep and are often regarded a staple by reptile keepers.
Available to purchase in pre-packed tubs of 60g, mealworms are the perfect size for many reptiles and amphibians including dragons, geckos, tarantulas and some frogs. Being vegetarian, mealworms pose little threat to your pet in comparison to many other feeds such as maggots. They can be easily dusted with calcium to help combat metabolic bone disease.
As mealworms are vegetarian, they are much less likely to carry diseases compared to other larvae such as maggots, making them a clean, odourless and inexpensive live food treat in a reptile or amphibian's diet. They can be kept for several weeks, but keeping them at cooler temperatures reduces the probability of them turning into beetles. Keep them fed with rolled oats and offer them some water.
