Eleocharis acicularis Pot

Eleocharis acicularis is a very common pot plant for fish tanks and thrives in almost all conditions in an aquarium. It makes and excellent foreground plant if kept short or a mid ground plants if planted in large isolated clusters. An open space without shading from other plants is still preferable as this plant likes to have a lot of light. After planting, the roots will start colonizing the surroundings, creating a beautiful carpet of 6-15 cm height. If the carpet grows too tall, you may carefully cut it back to the preferred height. Medium light intensity recommended with a temperature range from 15-25 degrees celcius and can grow up to 20cm in height,

Feed with root tabs every 3-4 months to keep your plant healthy and strong. For best growth result, remove your plant from the pot supplied and the rock wool and plant straight into the substrate. Plant weights can be used to prevent the plant from floating and removed once the plant has established a root system.

Plants are a valuable addition to aquariums. They offer an important contribution to the overall ecology of your fish tank through the consumption of nitrates, which under other circumstances can only be tackled through dilution or chemically. They also consume phosphates and other nutrients, reducing algae growth whilst producing oxygen for your fish.

Many species of fish need to have plants in their aquarium for enrichment and to offer valuable hiding places, as well as acting as a breeding ground. As this is quite a tall plant, it can also help to break the line of sight for fish that may be prone to chasing or territorial disputes.
