Description
Juncus effuses spiralis – corkscrew rush
Corkscrew Rush is an interesting and unusual perennial foliage plant for shallow marginal pond planting. With its intertwining cockscrew leafless stems, it adds a different dimension to the aesthetics of the pond. Evergreen and an excellent contrast to other plants in bog gardens, ponds or water features. Due to its size and spread as well as the relatively slow growth, this plant is a great choice for small ponds and bog filters and an excellent addition to any wildlife pond. During the summer it will produce tiny brown flowers. Trim back in spring to encourage fresh growth.
Can also be grown in containers on the patio, but ensure that the plant receives plenty of water.
Position: Full sun or partial shade
Flower: brown flowers / foliage plant
Flowering Time: June to August
Planting Depth: 0-10cm
Height: up to 45cm
