The Bronze Corydora is a lovely little catfish with a widespread habitat throughout South America. Like all cories, they require soft sand substrate to protect their delicate barbels and reasonably spacious aquarium furnished with plenty of wood, rocks and plants. They are a social species that should be maintained in a shoal of 6 or more specimens. This will help the fish feel secure and encourage them to come out into the open more often. Bronze Corydora are one of the larger species of cories.
Cories make an excellent part of the aquarium clean up crew. They are constantly active, rummaging in the sand for any potential food, stirring up any settled detritus as they pass, which in turn helps to move more of it towards the filter.
Ideal tank mates should be other smaller, peaceful species of fish. We recommend other South American species like Apistogrammas, Angelfish, Tetra and Plecos. Avoid larger cichlids and excessively boisterous species as they are likely to intimidate cories, causing them to hide more.
Cories should not be expected to survive entirely on whatever food leftovers they find and should be fed regularly like everything else in the aquarium. Food can be offered in the form of catfish pellets, sinking wafers as well as fresh or frozen fish foods such as brine shrimp and daphnia.
