All aquariums should have a thermometer to help us monitor temperatures as even goldfish can suffer when the temperature is too high in the summer. Tropical aquariums must have one too as heaters can sometimes malfunction and either stop working or never switch off. A simple thermometer will let you know straight away if there is an issue so that it can be remedied immediately.

This Betta LCD  (Liquid Crystal Display) Thermometer provides an accurate way of determining your aquariums water temperature. They use liquid crystal strips to indicate the temperature of the aquarium by altering colour at differing temperatures. This makes them easy to read and you simply stick on to the outside of the aquarium. Temperature is measured in Celsius and it is suitable for both fresh water and marine aquariums.

It is generally recommended that your aquarium be kept between 21-27°C (indicated by the green band) for most common tropical fish, if you have a mixed community base your temperature choice on the most sensitive species first. To read the thermometer in the most accurate way, place it on the opposite side of the tank to your heater and simply read the number at the lowest point of the water line.
