Description
Aquadip Frozen Cyclops Fish Food 100g
Aquadip Frozen Cyclops Fish Food is a fine frozen food particularly well suited to small tropical fish, juvenile fish and species with small mouths. The tiny size of Cyclops makes them an excellent alternative to larger frozen foods such as bloodworm and mysis, allowing smaller fish to enjoy the feeding response and variety offered by frozen natural foods.
Supplied in a convenient 100g blister pack, the individual portions make it easy to offer an appropriate amount without repeatedly thawing the entire pack.
Cyclops Fish Food for Small Tropical Fish
Cyclops are tiny freshwater crustaceans belonging to a group known as copepods. Their naturally small size makes Cyclops fish food particularly useful for smaller aquarium inhabitants that may struggle with larger frozen foods.
Once introduced to the aquarium, the small particles disperse through the water, giving numerous fish the opportunity to feed rather than allowing the largest or fastest individuals to monopolise a single large piece of food.
Frozen Cyclops can be particularly useful for small tetras, rasboras, danios, guppies and other livebearers, dwarf cichlids and many juvenile fish. It can also provide useful dietary variety for numerous community aquarium species.
What is Cyclops Fish Food?
Cyclops are naturally occurring microscopic freshwater crustaceans that form part of the aquatic food chain. Their small size makes them a valuable food source for small fish and developing juveniles.
Freezing allows Cyclops to be conveniently stored at home while retaining the characteristics that make natural foods so attractive to aquarium fish.
For fishkeepers accustomed to feeding bloodworm or brineshrimp, Frozen Cyclops provides a much finer food option and can be especially useful when feeding a community containing particularly small species.
Is Frozen Cyclops Suitable for Fry?
Frozen Cyclops can be an excellent food for larger fry and juvenile fish once they are capable of taking food of this size.
It should not, however, be considered a universal first food for newly hatched fry. Very small fry may initially require considerably finer foods such as infusoria or appropriately sized specialist fry diets.
As the young fish grow, Cyclops can provide a useful stepping stone towards larger frozen foods.
Feeding Aquadip Frozen Cyclops
Remove a suitable portion from the blister pack and feed only as much as your fish will consume within a short period.
The portion can be thawed before feeding, which makes it easier to control how much food enters the aquarium. For smaller tanks or lightly stocked aquariums, there is no need to use an entire portion at once.
As with all aquarium foods, avoid overfeeding. Uneaten food should not be allowed to accumulate as it can adversely affect water quality.
Part of a Varied Aquarium Diet
Although frozen Cyclops is an excellent natural food, most aquarium fish benefit from variety rather than relying exclusively on one food.
Rotate Cyclops with suitable quality flakes, granules, pellets and other frozen foods according to the dietary requirements of the species being kept. This provides different food sizes, textures and nutritional profiles while also helping to keep feeding interesting.
For small fish in particular, Aquadip Frozen Cyclops is an extremely useful freezer staple: tiny food for tiny mouths, without making the bigger fish feel left out.
