The Repto Terra Clear Cylinder Terrarium 20 × 20 × 35cm is a tall, compact acrylic enclosure designed for smaller terrarium inhabitants that make good use of vertical space.

Its 35cm height provides room for branches, cork and foliage, making it particularly interesting for appropriately sized climbing invertebrates such as mantids, stick insects and certain spiders.

The clear cylindrical design also makes the inhabitant and its miniature habitat a real feature, rather than simply giving you somewhere practical to keep it.

Designed for Vertical Space

With a footprint of approximately 20 × 20cm and a height of 35cm, this Terra Clear is considerably taller than the standard rectangular models.

That extra height allows you to build upwards using fine branches, cork, foliage and other suitable climbing structures, providing useful vertical space for species whose natural behaviour takes them above ground level.

As always, enclosure suitability should be based on the animal’s adult size, behaviour and environmental requirements, not simply whether it physically fits inside.

Ideal for a Miniature Display

This is probably the biggest appeal of the Cylinder.

Its tall, clear design lends itself beautifully to creating a small naturalistic display using appropriate substrate, cork, branches, moss and live or artificial foliage.

Rather than hiding the setup behind a large frame, the transparent walls allow you to enjoy both the inhabitant and the environment you’ve created around it.

For something like a beautifully marked mantis, that can make the enclosure almost as interesting as the animal itself.

Excellent All-Round Visibility

The clear acrylic construction provides excellent visibility from around the enclosure, making it particularly effective as a display terrarium on a shelf or cabinet.

It also makes observing smaller animals easier — although we make no promises regarding invertebrates that spend £40 worth of carefully arranged habitat sitting behind the one piece of cork you can’t see around.

Ventilation & Humidity

Like the other Terra Clear enclosures, the Cylinder is designed to provide the ventilation needed for a small terrarium environment while allowing humidity to be managed according to the species being kept.

The correct balance is important. Some inhabitants require relatively high airflow, while others benefit from greater humidity retention.

Conditions should therefore be monitored rather than guessed, particularly in a compact enclosure where temperature and humidity can change relatively quickly.

Keep the terrarium away from direct sunlight, which can cause a small clear enclosure to overheat rapidly.

Easy Access & Secure Housing

Convenient access makes routine feeding, misting and maintenance easier without requiring you to dismantle the habitat every time you need to get inside.

Secure closure is particularly important when keeping small invertebrates, many of which possess a remarkable ability to locate gaps that their keeper was absolutely certain didn’t exist.

Always make sure the enclosure is properly closed after feeding or maintenance.

Creating the Right Habitat

Although it’s tempting to choose this enclosure simply because it looks good, the setup inside still needs to reflect the animal you’re keeping.

For climbing species, provide securely positioned branches or cork that allow the inhabitant to use the enclosure’s height.

For species that moult while suspended, it’s particularly important to provide sufficient clear space beneath suitable attachment points for the animal to complete the process safely.

Substrate depth, humidity, ventilation, temperature and furnishings should all be selected according to the requirements of the individual species.
