The Clown Wrasse – Formosa, Coris Formosa, varies greatly in colour between the juvenile and adult states. As a juvenile, it has an orange body with white stripes on the back, which are outlined in black. Preferably it should be kept in an aquarium with a substrate of sand and some rocks, to replicate its natural habitat. It should be fed with frozen food such as brineshrimp, mysis or marine pellets, such as Gamma Marine Complete Pellets.

The aquarium needs to be very large to accommodate this fish, with plenty of nooks and crannies in the rock work and very deep sand to allow the fish to exhibit its natural hiding behaviour. Rocks should be firmly fixed down and

This species is also known as the Queen Coris and it grows to a substantial size of 60cm. For that reason, it is important that the correct tank mates are chosen to avoid anyone getting eaten. This fish will hunt crustaceans, urchins and worms in the aquarium, but generally leaves corals alone.
