Description

Exo Terra Ficus Silk Plant Medium

The Exo Terra Ficus Silk Plant Medium is a realistic artificial terrarium plant designed to provide natural-looking foliage, additional cover and sheltered areas for reptiles and amphibians.

At approximately 45cm long, the leafy trailing design is ideal for decorating terrarium backgrounds, branches and other enclosure furniture. It provides the appearance and many of the practical benefits of natural planting without requiring watering, specialist lighting or suitable growing conditions.

Exo Terra Ficus Silk Plant for Natural Terrariums

The Exo Terra Ficus Silk Plant provides an easy way to introduce additional greenery into reptile and amphibian enclosures.

Its realistic silk-style foliage helps soften the appearance of backgrounds and artificial décor, particularly when combined with natural materials such as cork bark, wood and branches.

It can be used on its own or alongside live planting to create a fuller, more natural-looking enclosure.

Creates Cover and Hiding Areas

Terrarium plants aren’t purely decorative.

The foliage creates visual barriers and sheltered areas, giving animals additional places to retreat from view. This can be particularly useful for shy species and reptiles or amphibians that naturally spend much of their time amongst vegetation.

The Medium Ficus is large enough to create useful areas of cover without overwhelming a smaller or medium-sized enclosure.

Ideal for Arboreal Terrariums

The trailing design of the Exo Terra Ficus Silk Plant Medium makes it particularly useful for decorating vertical areas of a terrarium.

Position it amongst branches and climbing structures or use it against the enclosure background to introduce foliage at different heights.

This makes it particularly useful in setups for arboreal and semi-arboreal species.

Useful Where Live Plants Cannot Thrive

Not every part of a terrarium provides suitable conditions for natural plants.

Areas may be too hot, too dry or receive insufficient light, while some enclosure inhabitants can quickly damage live vegetation.

The Exo Terra Ficus Silk Plant provides permanent foliage in these areas without requiring watering, fertilising or specialist plant lighting.

It can also be used in more sterile setups, including quarantine terrariums, where natural planting may not be practical.

Easy to Clean and Maintain

Unlike live plants, artificial Ficus requires very little maintenance.

The plant can be removed and rinsed with clean water before being returned to the enclosure. Regular cleaning helps remove dust, waste and other organic material that may collect on the foliage.

Its silk-style leaves provide a softer and more realistic appearance than many rigid plastic terrarium decorations.
