Available in store are some lovely 5-6" White Tip Sterlets.

Sterlets are the smaller version of Sturgeons. With that said, they still grow to at least a metre in length and require a very large pond. Whilst they are captive bred, the preference for fast flowing, highly oxygenated waters with excellent filtration still remains an important factor in keeping these fish. They have a very distinct swimming style and spend much of their time at the bottom of the pond, making them quite prone to getting tangled in blanket weed. This can result in injury and even fatalities.

Whilst they can be kept with koi and other pond fish, their dietary habits are not seasonal and they require high protein food all year round. This may become problematic as Koi can't be fed such foods at low temperatures. Sterlets are also extremely sensitive to water treatments, so care should be taken to ensure that any treatments used are labelled as safe for sturgeons. Orfe would make a far more suitable pond companion as their needs are very similar to that of a Sterlet.
