Succisa pratensis - devil's bit scabious
A moisture loving British native of wetland meadows. Excellent wildlife plant highly attractive to butterflies and bees. In folk tales the short root was bitten off by the devil angry at the plants ability to cure so many ailments. Well suited to bog gardens, pond margins and wildlife meadows.
