The Sargassum Trigger is one of the more popular triggers in the hobby as they are one of the more reef friendly triggers. Their natural diet does consist of shellfish and crustaceans, but they're not so keen on corals. Sessile invertebrates are also often ignored. There are of course some rogue fish and there's always a risk factor when adding these fish to any aquarium.
This trigger is also a lot more peaceful than others and can even be housed with others of its own kind as long as they're all introduced at the same time. Small mild mannered fish should still be avoided as some degree of trigger behaviour should still be expected.
They are omnivores and should be fed a varied diet of meaty foods, pellets and seaweed. Offering different foods several times a day ensures that their dietary needs are met.
