The Red Eye Fairy Wrasse is a popular choice for reef aquariums. It is a peaceful fish that grows to a moderate size and is very colourful. They get along with most fish, but don't like to be kept with their own kind or similar species. In some cases, one male and several females have been kept together successfully, but caution should always be exercised and the tank needs to be very large for it to be a success. Like all fairy wrasses, they sleep between rocks in a cocoon of mucus.
Colours can vary a great deal with this species, depending on region and males have the ability to change colour during courtship. They can also change gender both from male to female and vice versa.
