The Pyramid Butterflyfish is an often overlooked species that’s seldom seen in the trade. In the wild they are zooplanktivores, but adjust really well to aquarium life and a change in diet. They are a hardy species that poses little threat to Reefs with more noxious corals , though sometimes the may take interest in some of the critters. Well fed specimens don’t tend to bother inverts.

Quite unusually, this peaceful butterfly likes to be kept in small groups of its own kind, so a larger aquarium with plenty of live rock and open swimming space is very important.

Ideally they should be kept with other medium sized peaceful fish. If any mildly aggressive fish are added, they should join the aquarium after the butterflies have established their territory. They should not be kept with other types of butterflies and boisterous feeders should be avoided as they’re likely to spook the butterflies and prevent them from feeding.
