Pygmy Pufferfish or Pea Puffers are a tiny species from India. They are a very entertaining and popular fish that's best kept in groups. The aquarium should be well planted as the males of this species will form territories that they will fiercely defend from one another. Though they will chase their rivals away, damage is rarely done as long as there are plenty of hiding spaces. This species is best kept on its own as, like all pufferfish, they consider absolutely everything to be food and can't be trusted around other fish.

Unlike most other puffers, these fish are not a brackish species and don't require salt in their water.

The puffers are best fed on fresh or frozen fish foods like brine shrimp, chopped cockle and mussel and chopped krill. Offering small snails will also help keep their beaks in check, so many keepers will also breed pest snails for their pufferfish.

If you have any questions about keeping these fish and whether they're suitable for you, please contact us and a member of our friendly store team will be more than happy to answer all of your questions
