The Yoyo loach is an excellent choice of bottom feeder for larger community aquariums. It is an active, social species that likes to spend plenty of time rummaging around the aquarium for food. They are best kept in shoals of 5 or more specimens in a medium to large aquarium with soft sand substrate and plenty of wood and rocks for enrichment and hiding places. Yoyos have a complex social hierarchy among their own kind and can become very problematic when kept alone, often harassing other fish or being outright aggressive. They are often recommended as a solution for snail infestations, but entirely unsuitable for smaller aquariums.
Tank mates can include larger barbs and danios, as well as other more robust species including some medium to large relatively peaceful cichlids such as Severums.. Avoid slow moving fish as they are likely to be harassed by the loaches.
Please note that the image is for illustration purposes and the fish you will receive may not be identical. These fish are still juveniles and have yet to colour up. A healthy environment and good quality food will help bring them into full colour. If you have any questions about keeping these fish, please don't hesitate to ask a member of staff.
