Springtails are small, wingless insects that are an essential part of any bio-active enclosure. They only measure a few millimetres long and are natural decomposers, meaning they break down organic matter like decaying leaves, fungi, dead insects, and faeces. This helps to recycle nutrients and keep the soil healthy and vibrant. Feed the springtails regularly with ProRep Springtail food to keep your colony healthy.
Springtails are also an ideal food source for young froglets and hatchling micro geckos.

You springtails will breed readily in a rainforest environments and get to work breaking down organic waste and keep the enclosure free of mould. Springtails also allow plants to use their waste to their advantage and thrive from it. We recommend adding the springtails to an enclosure 10-14 days before the lizard or amphibian to allow them to start establishing a healthy colony before being eatlen. In the right environment, they will form an essential part of the enclosure.
