Found in reefs and reef adjacent habitats, the Honeycomb Toby Puffer is a small, adaptable fish. Once settled, this fish has a bold temperament as it carries toxins that ensure it isn’t preyed upon and like all puffers, it can inflate itself to almost twice its original size when frightened.

Toby Puffers will feed on small shrimps and snails in the aquarium and will nip at corals too so they are not considered reef safe. When handling these puffers, it is best to herd them into a container and lift the fish with the container full of water rather than lifting them out of the water with a net as it may ingest air. The fish should never be purposely provoked into inflating itself.
