A gate valve is often used in pond filtration systems as a means to have a controlled waste exit pipe that can be opened and closed on an ad-hoc basis. Simple to operate, these valves can reduce flow or simply shut it off altogether, giving the opportunity for maintenance and moving equipment without the need to disconnect anything. The valve can be fitted to any kind of pipework and has a solvent socket on both sides.
