Description
G4 Pondseal 5kg Black
G4 Pondseal Black is a trusted waterproof coating designed for sealing concrete, rendered, masonry and blockwork ponds. Popular with pond builders and koi keepers alike, it creates a tough waterproof barrier that helps prevent water loss while protecting the underlying pond structure.
Unlike flexible pond liners, G4 Pondseal is applied directly to the pond surface, making it an excellent choice for formal ponds, raised ponds and custom-built koi ponds where a neat, professional finish is desired. The black finish helps create the illusion of depth, enhances the colours of fish and aquatic plants, and gives the pond a more natural appearance.
G4 Pondseal is commonly used on new pond builds as well as renovation projects where an existing concrete or rendered pond requires waterproofing. Once fully cured, it provides a durable, long-lasting finish suitable for a wide range of pond and water feature applications.
Whether you’re constructing a new koi pond, refurbishing an existing pond or sealing a decorative water feature, G4 Pondseal Black offers a proven solution for creating a watertight and attractive finish.
G4 can be used at low temperatures down to 0 degrees celsius and in areas of relatively high humidity, but cannot be used on bitumen or pond liners as the surface that the seal goes on must remain rigid and in position. The consumption rate varies depending on the porosity but on normal porous cement you need: G4 Clear – 3 coats = 550g/sq.m (for the 3 coats) G4 Coloured – 2 coats of G4 Standard = 410 g/sq., (for 2 coats) Then a further 2 coats of G4 Coloured = 400 g/sq.m (for 2 coats)
Frequently Asked Questions
What is G4 Pondseal Black used for?
G4 pond sealer is designed specifically for waterproofing solid structures intended to hold water, such as rendered ponds, blockwork ponds, concrete ponds. waterfalls and water features.
Is G4 better than a pond liner?
Pond liners are more flexible and open to artistic license, while pond seal will provide a better finish on a solid structure. Both waterproof, both have their merits. A different tool for each job, if you will.
Why Choose Black?
Black is the standard go-to colour for pretty much all ponds for a number of reasons. One of them being that it really shows off the colours of the fish. This is particularly prominent in the koi world, where the fish often carry a great deal of white colouration that just pops against a black background. Second to that it the illusion of depth. The black colour makes the pond look deeper and more vast than a lighter colour would. Thirdly, ponds are never the cleanest thing. They will have algae and debris at all times in varying amounts, depending on your housekeeping routine. But black disguises a lot of it and it won’t be as noticeable.
Is G4 Pondseal safe for Koi ponds?
Yes. G4 Pondseal is widely used in koi pond construction and is one of the most popular methods of waterproofing rendered and concrete koi ponds.
Will G4 stop my pond from leaking?
This is a tricky one because there are a lot of variables. This pond seal will help to seal hairline cracks and such, but it can’t be used to close larger gaps in the structure of the pond and make it waterproof. Equally, the structure itself must be stable and shouldn’t expand or move in any way or the seal will simply break.
