This frozen mussels fish food is just one of many Frozen fish food varieties we have available and is ideally suited for larger carnivorous tropical and marine fish. The finest quality mussels, left whole and blast frozen for freshness are ideal for Larger predatory fish that need more protein and larger mouthfuls of food. Suitable for both freshwater and marine fish. Mussels can be defrosted whole and fed as they are or chopped up into smaller chunks to accommodate juvenile fish that may struggle. Also suitable for a range of other carnivorous species such as snapping turtles.

Can frozen mussels be fed whole?

Yes, if the fish has a mouth large enough. Smaller fish can still be fed mussels, but they will need to be shopped into smaller bite sized pieces.

Are mussels a complete food?

No. Mussels should be fed alongside a regular staple pellet and other frozen foods as part of a healthy balanced diet.

Can turtles eat mussels?

Yes. Turtles enjoy eating shellfish and can be offered mussels as a protein boosting treat, alongside the turtle’s usual food.

Did you know? Did you know? Many puffers and triggerfish naturally feed on shellfish, crustaceans and other hard-shelled prey in the wild. While frozen mussels don’t provide the same dental wear as shelled foods, they still make an excellent source of natural marine protein.
