Description

Frozen Beefheart Block

Frozen Beefheart Block is a high-protein frozen food particularly popular with discus, large cichlids and other carnivorous or omnivorous aquarium fish. Supplied as a substantial frozen slab, it is an economical option for fishkeepers who regularly use beefheart as part of their feeding routine.

Beefheart has a long history of use among discus keepers, where protein-rich foods are commonly incorporated into varied feeding regimes. It is also readily accepted by many larger aquarium fish including Oscars, piranhas, knifefish and other species with a preference for meaty foods.

Unlike formulated beefheart mixtures containing numerous additional ingredients, this Aquadip food has a relatively coarse, natural texture. Portions can simply be broken from the frozen slab as required, making the larger packs particularly convenient for heavily stocked aquariums or keepers maintaining several tanks.

Frozen Beefheart Block for Aquarium Fish

Frozen Beefheart Block provides a concentrated meaty food that can be used to add variety to the diets of suitable tropical fish.

It is particularly associated with discus, but its usefulness is not limited to them. Many medium and large cichlids and predatory species will readily take beefheart, making it a useful addition to a rotation of frozen foods such as bloodworm, krill, mysis and shrimp.

Because beefheart is a rich food, it is best incorporated into a balanced and varied diet rather than being treated as the sole food for most aquarium species.

Ideal for Discus and Larger Fish

Discus are famously selective feeders, and beefheart-based foods have been used by discus keepers for many years. The soft, meaty texture and high protein content can make beefheart particularly appealing to fish that readily accept substantial frozen foods.

Larger cichlids such as Oscars can also make short work of it, while predatory fish including knifefish and piranhas may benefit from it as one of several different meaty foods offered within their diet.

For smaller or less carnivorous species, feed more sparingly and choose portions appropriate for the size of the fish.

Economical 500g and 1kg Slabs

Available in 500g and 1kg frozen blocks, this is a practical alternative to individual 100g blister packs for customers who feed frozen beefheart regularly.

The slab format also keeps packaging to a minimum. Simply break or cut off the quantity required and return the remainder to the freezer.

Feeding Frozen Beefheart

Break off an appropriately sized portion and allow it to soften or defrost before feeding. Offer only as much as the fish will consume within a short period and remove significant uneaten food to prevent unnecessary deterioration in water quality.

As with other rich frozen foods, sensible portion sizes are important. Alternate with other appropriate frozen and prepared foods to provide greater dietary variety.

Available sizes: 500g and 1kg frozen slabs.
