What size hose is compatible with the ProVAC’s water change adapter?
The hose for the water change adapter on the ProVAC should be 1/2″ interior diameter.
How frequently should I perform partial water changes?
We recommend performing partial water changes of at least 30% every week. When keeping aquariums with high stocking densities or with more delicate / demanding species, more frequent water changes are required. Always make sure the replacement water is of the right temperature and conditioned with Fluval Aqua Plus Water Conditioner.
What substrates can I use this Gravel Vac on?
This can be used on any substrate. The intensity and / or height should be adjusted according the the size of the grain so you don’t syphon it up along with the waste.
Can Gravel Vacs be used on sand?
Yes, it can be used on sand, but not in the same way as gravel. You don’t want to dig into the sand with the gravel vac as the sand grains are too light and will get sucked up. You can adjust the flow rate to make the suction less powerful and then hover just above the sand whilst syphoning in a circular motion to stir up the debris you are trying to extract. There is an art to it, but it’s all down to practice.
