The Phoenix Rasbora is a popular and less typically seen alternative to the Chilli Rasbora. It's one of the tiniest fish available in the hobby, growing to a maximum of 2cm. They are often overlooked in shops by aquarists who don't know what they're looking at because of their size and because they're often very bland until they enter the home aquarium. The aquarium should be planted, with soft, acidic conditions. It is recommended that the lighting is diffused with floating plants and/or tannins are added to the aquarium to reflect their natural habitat.
These rasboras can adapt to a surprisingly wide range of conditions and are even happy at the lower end of the temperature scale. The only thing to take into consideration is that they don't do well at high pH. They are renowned for being prolific breeders, with well conditioned adults spawning daily.
