The dwarf neon rainbowfish is an eye catching peaceful species from South East Asia. Like all shoaling species, they should be kept in a group of 6 or more individuals, creating a beautiful display of activity in your aquarium.

The aquarium should be at least 4ft long, with the back and sides heavily planted with bog wood to give the fish plenty of hiding spaces to explore. The centre of the tank should be left as free swimming space. Floating plants can help diffuse the lighting to make the rainbows feel more secure. These fish will adapt to a wide range of temperature and pH and don't need any special measures.

As a peaceful species, they'll get along with most fish, but large boisterous species should be avoided as they may intimidate the rainbows and cause them to hide. Ideal tank mates could be rasboras, tetra, dwarf cichlids, other rainbowfish, barbs and many others.

Food should be offered in the form of pellets or flakes and fresh or frozen foods to boost protein levels. These rainbows are not fussy at all, but be careful not to overfeed.

Please note: These fish are still juveniles and have yet to colour up. The fish you are buying may not be identical to the ones in the photo.
