A shoal of Boesemani Rainbowfish is a stunning addition to medium to large aquaria! They are a peaceful species that should be maintained in a group of 6 or more individuals. The aquarium should be at least 4ft long and planted around the back and sides. The centre of the tank should be left for open swimming space for this active species to enjoy. These rainbows will adapt to a wide range of conditions, but alkaline water is very much preferred. A tight fitting lid is a must as they are known for jumping.
Boesemanis are often overlooked in shops as the juveniles aren't much to look at in comparison to adults. But once they settle into the home aquarium, the soon start to colour up to their full adult glory.
They are a peaceful species and don't bother their tank mates. They also have fairly small heads in comparison to their bodies, so they can't fit most fish in their mouth. Tank mates should be chosen based on whether they're happy in hard water and the higher temperatures required by the Boesemani.
Food can be offered in the form of micro pellets as well as fresh and frozen foods.
