The Black Phantom tetra is a charming species that's often overlooked because of its monochrome appearance. They make great additions to aquariums with colourful centrepiece fish like discus and gourami. They are a shoaling species that should be kept in a group of 6 or more individuals. The tank needs to be at least 60L with plants and an open swimming area for the fish to enjoy.
Tank mates can be anything that isn't big enough to eat the phantoms, but long finned fish should be avoided as the phantoms are known to be a little nippy. Males sometimes squabble, but seldom cause any real harm to one another.
Food can be offered in the form of micro pellets as well as fresh or frozen fish foods such as brine shrimp, daphnia and bloodworm.
