Hozelock Bioforce Revolution 9000 Pond Filter

The Hozelock Bioforce Revolution 9000 is a powerful pressurised pond filter designed to combine excellent water quality with much easier maintenance. It brings together mechanical filtration, biological filtration and a built-in 24W UVC, making it suitable for ponds up to 9,000 litres with fish or 18,000 litres without fish.

Unlike conventional filters that require you to remove dirty foam for regular cleaning, the Bioforce Revolution has an integrated cleaning mechanism. This allows much of the routine maintenance to be carried out without opening the filter or getting your hands covered in pond sludge.

Hozelock Bioforce Revolution 9000

The Bioforce Revolution uses a three-stage filtration process to tackle the main causes of poor pond water.

Water first receives UV treatment from the integrated 24W UVC, helping control the suspended algae responsible for green water. Hozelock also uses a water turbulator to improve exposure to the UV light as water passes through the unit.

CypriCube foam media then provides mechanical filtration, capturing suspended dirt and solid waste. Its profiled design provides a large surface area while allowing water to continue passing through the filter efficiently.

Finally, Kaldnes K3 biological media provides a home for beneficial bacteria. These bacteria help process dissolved fish waste, making biological filtration particularly important in stocked ponds.

Easy-Clean Pond Filter

One of the biggest advantages of the Bioforce Revolution is its cleaning system.

When the filter needs cleaning, the pump is switched off and the handle on top of the unit is rotated. Internal cleaning blades squeeze and agitate the CypriCube media, releasing accumulated dirt. The filter can then be switched to its waste position and the dirty water flushed away from the pond.

Because the media is cleaned using pond water rather than being repeatedly removed and washed under the tap, more of the beneficial bacterial population can be retained.

Pressurised Filtration

As a pressurised pond filter, the Bioforce Revolution 9000 offers more flexibility than a traditional gravity-return filter.

Filtered water can be returned at a higher point, making the unit particularly useful where you want to feed a waterfall or watercourse after filtration. The filter itself can also be partially buried, allowing most of the unit to be hidden beside the pond.

Choosing a Pump

Hozelock specifies the Bioforce Revolution 9000 for use with a pump up to the Aquaforce 6000, with the official technical data giving a maximum filter flow of 4,500 LPH.

Remember that pond size ratings are maximum figures. Heavy fish stocking, high feeding levels, shallow ponds and strong sunlight can all increase the demands placed on a filtration system.
