Aquadip Frozen Krill Superba is a substantial natural frozen food particularly suited to larger tropical, coldwater and marine fish. Larger than Krill Pacifica, Superba provides a much meatier mouthful for fish that can comfortably tackle bigger prey items.

Frozen Krill Superba for Large Aquarium Fish

Krill Superba is an excellent choice when smaller frozen foods such as brine shrimp, mysis or Krill Pacifica simply aren’t substantial enough.

Individual Superba krill are considerably larger and can be offered whole to appropriately sized fish or chopped into smaller pieces where required. This makes them particularly useful for large cichlids and predatory freshwater and marine species.

Which Fish Can Eat Krill Superba?

Frozen Krill Superba is particularly well suited to larger fish with mouths capable of comfortably taking the food.

Good candidates include:

• Piranhas and other predatory freshwater fish
• Large catfish
• Lionfish and scorpionfish

Krill Superba or Krill Pacifica?

The biggest practical difference is size.

Krill Pacifica is the smaller variety and is therefore suitable for a broader range of medium-sized aquarium fish. Krill Superba is the larger option, making it much better suited to bigger fish and predators requiring a more substantial meal.

For smaller fish, brine shrimp or mysis may be more appropriate again.

Choosing frozen food according to the size of the fish’s mouth helps ensure it can be swallowed comfortably and reduces unnecessary waste.

Remove the required portion from the blister pack and thaw before feeding if preferred. Whole krill can be offered to larger fish, while individual pieces can be chopped for smaller specimens where appropriate.

Feed only as much as the fish will consume promptly and remove significant quantities of uneaten food to help maintain good water quality.
