The Aiptasia Eating Filefish is exactly what it says on the tin. They are a highly sought after solution to Aiptasia infestations in reef aquaria. The filefish is a generally peaceful fish, growing up to 10cm in length. They aren't typically aggressive towards their tank mates and larger invertebrates, but may be territorial towards their own species and other similar looking fish. They are excellent munchers of Aiptasia anemones, but caution should be exercised if keeping them in a reef aquarium as they may occasionally nip at soft, delicate corals and small invertebrates once the Aiptasia population has been exhausted. Supplementing their diet with fresh or frozen fish foods helps.
Like most marine fish, we class this species as moderate care level. The aquarium should be stable with plenty of rock work to browse and hide in.
