Acorus gramineus variegatus 1 Litre
Acorus gramineus variegatus is a pretty foliage plant. the leaves are brightly striped with green and pale cream edging. This plant is native to Japan, Korea and eastern Asia and grows really well in our climate. It is frost hardy and can grow in any kind of soil as long as it isn't allowed to dry out, though it prefers to have its roots in the water. Leaves grow out in attractive fan shapes, contrasting nicely with other marginals. Plant in shallow areas in a medium container using aquatic soil covered with pea gravel. Produces tiny yellow flowers from May onwards, followed by small red berries. In spring, the rhizome can be divided and spread out. Due to its coarse leaves and slight scent, it seldom gets damaged by pests, but serves as a great hide for froglets and newly hatched dragonflies, as well as other wetland wildlife and insects.
