Hozelock 11 Watt PLS Short UV Bulb

The Hozelock 11 Watt PLS Short UV Bulb is a genuine replacement UVC lamp designed for the Hozelock EasyClear 7500. It replaces the original lamp inside the filter’s UVC clarifier and helps maintain effective control of green pond water.

UV bulbs don’t last forever. Although an older lamp may still light up, the amount of useful ultraviolet output it produces gradually decreases. Replacing the bulb regularly helps keep your EasyClear working as effectively as possible throughout the pond season.

11 Watt PLS UV Bulb for EasyClear 7500

This 11W PLS UV Bulb is the short version used in the Hozelock EasyClear 7500. It has a 2-pin fitting and measures approximately 175mm in overall length.

There are several types of 11 watt UV lamps available, and wattage alone does not guarantee compatibility. Some 11W PLS bulbs are considerably longer, so it’s important to check the length and fitting of your existing lamp before ordering.

Helps Control Green Pond Water

The UVC inside your EasyClear exposes water passing through the filter to ultraviolet light. This causes the tiny free-floating algae responsible for green water to clump together, allowing the filter to remove them more effectively.

A fresh lamp therefore plays an important role in maintaining clear pond water. If your EasyClear is otherwise working correctly but green water is becoming more difficult to control, an ageing UV bulb is one of the first things worth checking.

When Should I Replace My UV Bulb?

For reliable performance, we recommend replacing the UV lamp approximately once each year, ideally at the beginning of the main pond season.

Don’t judge the condition of a UV bulb simply by whether it still glows. A lamp can continue producing visible light after its effective UVC output has fallen considerably.

If you’re replacing the bulb as part of your annual filter maintenance, it’s also a good opportunity to inspect and carefully clean the quartz sleeve. Dirt and limescale on the sleeve can reduce the amount of UV reaching the water.
