SuperFish Start 70 Aquarium Kit

The SuperFish Start 70 Aquarium Kit is a complete 60 litre aquarium designed to make setting up your first tropical or coldwater aquarium simple. Supplied with LED lighting, filtration, heater and useful accessories, it provides the essential equipment needed to get started without having to choose everything separately.

At 59.2cm wide, the Start 70 is compact enough for many homes while providing considerably more usable swimming space than a small desktop aquarium. Its traditional rectangular shape also makes it easy to decorate with plants, wood, rocks and other aquarium décor.

SuperFish Start 70 Aquarium Kit

The SuperFish Start 70 Aquarium Kit has an actual capacity of 60 litres and measures approximately 59.2 × 31.5 × 44.1cm. Despite the model name, it is therefore important to treat this as a 60 litre aquarium when choosing fish and calculating stocking levels.

It is supplied with a 100W aquarium heater, making it ready for a tropical setup as well as an unheated aquarium for suitable species. The kit also includes a thermometer, fish net and water supplements to help get a new aquarium underway.

LED Aquarium Lighting

Lighting is provided by a 12W SuperFish Retro LED Bright unit. This produces a bright white light designed to show off the aquarium and support straightforward planted setups. The official specification gives the light an output of 167 PAR, and the Start 70 hood can accommodate a maximum of two compatible light units if an upgrade is required later.

The enclosed hood also incorporates a convenient feeding flap, so everyday feeding can be carried out without removing the complete aquarium lid.

Aqua-Flow 200 Internal Filter

Keeping the water moving and clean is a SuperFish Aqua-Flow 200 internal filter. The filter provides both circulation and filtration while remaining compact enough to fit neatly inside the aquarium.

The Aqua-Flow 200 has an adjustable output of approximately 200–400 litres per hour, allowing the circulation to be adapted to the aquarium and its inhabitants.

SuperFish offers both standard Filter Cartridges and Crystal Clear Cartridges for the Aqua-Flow system, making replacement filter maintenance straightforward.

A Great First Tropical Aquarium

One of the biggest advantages of the Start 70 is that the 100W heater is already included. This opens up a much wider choice of colourful tropical community fish rather than limiting a new fishkeeper to species that can comfortably live in an unheated aquarium.

At 60 litres, it can make an attractive home for carefully selected smaller community fish, with plenty of possibilities for planting and aquascaping.

As with any new aquarium, the filter should be allowed to establish properly before the tank is fully stocked. Fish should then be introduced gradually rather than adding the complete planned population at once.
