The Fluval In-Line UVC Clarifier is a compact, energy-efficient aquarium water clarifier designed to help control green water and bacterial cloudiness without adding chemicals to your aquarium.

Connecting directly to the outlet hose of a compatible external canister filter, it uses ultraviolet light to target free-floating algae and bacteria as water passes through the unit. This helps maintain clearer aquarium water while leaving established beneficial bacteria living on filter media and aquarium surfaces largely unaffected.

How Does the Fluval In-Line UVC Clarifier Work?

Aquarium water can occasionally become cloudy due to microscopic algae or bacteria suspended in the water column.

The Fluval UVC Clarifier uses ultraviolet light to disrupt these organisms as water passes through its enclosed chamber.

This reduces their ability to reproduce and helps prevent the persistent green or milky appearance associated with suspended algae and bacterial blooms.

Unlike treatments added directly to aquarium water, UVC clarification works within the equipment itself.

Because beneficial bacteria primarily colonise filter media, gravel and other aquarium surfaces, the clarifier can target free-floating organisms without destroying the established biological filtration system.

Helps Control Green Water and Cloudy Aquariums

With a power consumption of just 3 watts, it provides economical water clarification without significantly increasing aquarium running costs.

The UVC lamp is also replaceable, allowing the unit to continue operating when the original lamp eventually reaches the end of its useful life.

Easy Installation with Fluval External Filters

The clarifier is designed to connect directly to the outlet hose of an external canister filter.

It is compatible with 16mm internal-diameter hosing, including that used by Fluval’s 06 and 07 Series external filters.

Water flows from the external filter through the UVC chamber before returning to the aquarium.

The unit can operate with water flowing in either direction, making installation more flexible.

Its compact housing fits neatly inside aquarium cabinetry, keeping the equipment out of sight and leaving the aquarium free from additional internal devices.

Please note: This 3W model is not designed for direct connection to Fluval FX Series filters, which use larger-diameter hosing.

Adjustable Daily Operation

The included timer allows the clarifier to operate for a selected period between 4 and 24 hours per day.

This gives aquarists control over how frequently the UVC system operates, depending on the aquarium’s requirements.
