Fluval Shaker Aquarium and Cabinet Kit

The Fluval Shaker Aquarium and Cabinet Kit combines traditional furniture styling with modern Fluval aquarium technology. Available in 168, 252 and 345 litre sizes, each model includes a matching cabinet, Bluetooth-controlled LED lighting, Fluval external filtration and a heater.

Unlike the more contemporary styling of many aquarium systems, the Shaker has been designed to look like a genuine piece of furniture. Choose between Hampshire Oak or Slate Grey, with matching aquarium trim and cabinet finishes creating a smart, coordinated display.

Fluval Shaker Aquarium in Three Sizes

The Fluval Shaker Aquarium is available in three sizes, making it easier to choose a model to suit both your available space and the fish you intend to keep.

The 345 litre model is particularly interesting because it retains the same 105cm aquarium length as the 252L but increases the front-to-back depth from 40 to 55cm. This provides considerably more room for larger fish, planting and substantial aquascapes.

Fluval Shaker Aquarium with Aquasky LED Lighting

Every Fluval Shaker Aquarium and Cabinet Kit includes integrated LED lighting featuring Fluval Aquasky technology.

The lighting can be controlled through the FluvalConnect app, giving you much more flexibility than a conventional on/off aquarium light. Colour and intensity can be adjusted, while programmable schedules and lighting effects allow you to create a lighting cycle to suit your aquarium.

The 168L model uses a 16.5W LED producing approximately 1300 lumens, while the larger 252L and 345L models use a 24W LED producing approximately 1950 lumens.

There’s also room to add an optional second compatible LED if you want to increase the lighting output later.

Powerful Fluval External Filtration

Rather than placing a large internal filter inside the display, the Shaker range uses Fluval 07 Series external filtration.

The filter sits neatly inside the cabinet, leaving more room within the aquarium and reducing the amount of equipment visible through the glass.

The 168L Shaker uses a Fluval 207, while the 252L uses a Fluval 307 and the largest 345L model uses a Fluval 407.

These external canister filters provide mechanical, biological and chemical filtration, with removable media baskets allowing the filtration to be customised when required.

Easy-Connect Through-Tank Filtration

Another particularly neat feature of the Fluval Shaker Aquarium is its through-tank filtration connection.

Instead of running inlet and outlet hoses over the rear edge of the aquarium, the filter connects through purpose-designed fittings in the aquarium itself.

This produces a much cleaner installation and allows the aquarium to sit more neatly against a wall without loops of filter hose hanging behind it.

An integrated cable management system also helps keep electrical cables organised and out of sight.

Fluval Heater Included

A suitable Fluval M Series heater is included with each Shaker aquarium.

This means the essential equipment required for a tropical setup — filtration, heating and lighting — is already supplied as part of the package.

Simply add your chosen substrate, decoration and plants before cycling the aquarium ready for livestock.

Easy Aquarium Access

The Shaker may have the appearance of a traditional hooded aquarium, but Fluval has made maintenance straightforward.

The sturdy one-piece top trim can be removed, providing much better access when carrying out larger maintenance jobs or rearranging the aquarium.

Sliding top covers provide convenient everyday access for feeding and cleaning, while the LED lighting sits neatly beneath the covers.

Fluval Shaker Aquarium Cabinet

The cabinet is one of the features that really separates the Fluval Shaker Aquarium and Cabinet Kit from a conventional aquarium setup.

Available in Hampshire Oak or Slate Grey, it has a traditional furniture-inspired appearance with brushed metal handles and substantial footing.

Soft-close doors help reduce vibration around the aquarium, while an internal shelf and built-in drawer provide useful storage for fish food, water treatments and maintenance equipment.

The external Fluval filter is also concealed inside the cabinet, keeping the finished aquarium looking tidy.

Which Fluval Shaker Aquarium Should I Choose?

The 168L Shaker is a good option where floor space is limited. At only 70cm wide, the aquarium provides an impressive amount of water volume for its relatively compact footprint.

Moving up to the 252L Shaker increases the aquarium length to 105cm, providing considerably more horizontal swimming space and making it better suited to a larger tropical community.

The 345L Shaker keeps that 105cm length but increases the depth to a substantial 55cm. That additional front-to-back space is particularly useful for larger fish and more ambitious planted or naturally decorated displays.
