Nishikoi Staple Koi Food

Nishikoi Staple Koi Food is a complete, balanced floating pellet food designed to provide everyday nutrition for koi and other ornamental pond fish. Formulated with 30% protein, essential vitamins and carefully selected ingredients, it supports healthy growth, natural colour and general condition throughout the warmer months.

Developed for regular feeding during spring, summer and autumn, this highly digestible food provides the nutrients pond fish need to remain active and healthy. Its floating pellets also make feeding time more enjoyable, allowing you to observe your fish as they come to the surface.

Available in several pellet sizes and pack weights, Nishikoi Staple is a practical choice of food for everything from small garden ponds to established koi collections.

Why Choose Nishikoi Staple Koi Food?

A good staple food should provide balanced nutrition without unnecessarily overloading your pond with waste.

Nishikoi Staple contains 30% protein, providing an appropriate level for everyday maintenance and growth during periods when koi are actively feeding.

Its formula includes fishmeal, fish oil, wheatgerm and spirulina, alongside a carefully balanced selection of vitamins and minerals.

Key nutritional benefits include:

• 30% protein to support healthy growth and muscle development.
• Vitamin A to support normal growth and general health.
• Vitamin C and E to support normal immune function and protect cells from oxidative stress.
• Vitamin D3 to support normal bone development.
• Highly digestible ingredients to help fish make effective use of their food.

The result is a dependable everyday food for koi and mixed ornamental pond fish.

Floating Pellets for Easy Feeding

Floating pellets offer several advantages over foods that immediately sink to the bottom of the pond.

As your fish gather at the surface for food, you can observe their appetite, behaviour and overall condition. This provides a useful opportunity to spot potential problems, such as fish that are reluctant to feed, behaving unusually or showing visible signs of injury.

Surface feeding also makes it easier to judge how much food your fish are consuming, helping you avoid unnecessary waste.

Nishikoi Staple is available in small, medium and large pellets, allowing you to select a suitable size for your fish.

Smaller pellets are useful for younger koi and smaller pond fish, while larger pellets are better suited to mature koi with larger mouths.

When Should You Feed Nishikoi Staple Koi Food?

This food is intended primarily for use during the warmer parts of the pond season, when fish are active and their digestive systems are functioning efficiently.

We recommend using Nishikoi Staple when the water temperature is consistently above 10°C and your fish are actively looking for food.

During warm weather, offer small portions of food several times a day rather than one excessively large meal.

As temperatures begin to fall in autumn, your fish will naturally become less active and their appetite will decrease.

At this point, consider changing to a more easily digested, lower-protein wheatgerm food designed for cooler conditions.

Always base your feeding routine on the actual pond water temperature rather than the time of year alone.

Nishikoi Staple Koi Food Feeding Guide

Feed up to three or four times daily during suitable warmer conditions, adjusting the frequency according to water temperature, fish activity and the capacity of your pond filtration system.

Only provide as much food as your fish can comfortably consume within approximately five minutes.

Remove uneaten pellets to prevent them breaking down and contributing to poor water quality.

Avoid feeding large quantities immediately after introducing new fish, during periods of poor water quality or when your pond fish are showing signs of stress.
