Superfish Pond Heater 150W Heater and Ice Guard in one. Energy-efficient stainless steel heater of 150 watts with a styrofoam float and 5 m cable. When your pond freezes over the Pond Heater keeps a hole in the ice, for the necessary exchange of oxygen and harmful gases. Also keeps the pond water marginally warmer.

Winter can be a hard time for pond keepers as temperatures can drop well below 0°C, often over night. If a pond freezes over completely, it prevents the necessary exchange of gasses and can be detrimental to the welfare of your fish. Equally, breaking thick sheets of ice by hand can cause further problems, so prevention is key to success. There are a number of methods used for preventing the ice build up, such as creating a stronger surface current and installing bubblers. Some people have tried floating tennis balls and such, but this is the least effective of all methods. Some of these methods won’t even work in the coldest parts of the country and nothing is quite as effective as a pond heater that continually maintains an area of your pond that is above freezing, thus preventing ice forming.

Though this heater will not bring temperatures high enough to warm the pond and keep the fish active all winter long, they will however keep at least part of your pond frost free.
