The Peppered Cory is one of the most popular aquarium staples. They are a small bottom feeding catfish that's highly adaptable, peaceful and thoroughly undemanding. They should be kept in a shoal of 6 or more specimens and the substrate in the aquarium must be sand for this species in order to protect their delicate sensory barbels. Like all cories, they will take in atmospheric air intestinally and need to be able to access the surface of the water. An unusual trait of this fish is that they move their eyes in a unique way, making it appear as though they're winking. Ideal tank mates include all species of Tetras, Angelfish, Ancistrus Catfish and Dwarf Cichlids among others.
This is one of just a handful of cories that's happy in cooler temperatures and is ideally suited for temperate set ups.
Food can be offered in the form of sinking wafers, as well as fresh or frozen fish foods such as daphnia, bloodworm, brine shrimp and cyclops.
